Don't buy junk food. Yes, this includes pop and chips!! Not only does junk food provide NO nutrition, but this is an extremely way to make you and your family fat and eventually kill you. This is one heck of a bad deal! Instead go for the fruits and vegetables.

If an item you want is on sale but it's out of stock, get a rain check.

Do your shopping when the kids are at school. If you bring they kids, they'll annoy until you buy that junk food. Then even if you can stick to your guns, it’s not fun at all to say no a thousand times!!! In almost all cases cases, you will save money by not bringing the kids.

Buy whole foods. The processed foods are lacking in nutrition and they make you fat. Buy products that are in their least processed form, for example, whole grain instead of white or wheat bread, whole grain cereal or oatmeal instead of all other kinds of cereal, or fresh fruit instead of canned or juice.

Read the labels. Avoid items with hydrogenated oils, trans fat, saturated fat, high amounts of sugar, cholesterol, lots of sodium. Buy items with fiber, good fats, protein, vitamins, calcium.

Eat shortly before you get hungry: this helps control your appetite cravings and keeps your metabolism rate high all day long.

Exercise at the tube: replace your sofa with a stationary bike or treadmill so you at least lose some calories while watching TV.

Get the most from those sweets: if you got a sweet tooth, eat it right after your workout. This is when your body benefits the most from a high glycemic index carbohydrate to give you a rapid fuel replenishment in your muscles.
